#HowTo: Write a review on your date anonymously

SOOOOOOO as you all know, there is a new application out that I am SUPER passionate about due to the fact that it's SO FREAKING CULTURALLY DISRUPTIVE ... it's called Mirror, and it's the first relationship review application.

Can you imagine being able to read a review of the guy you are about to go out with from his ex girlfriends, co-workers, and friends?

It's FREAKING NUTS! And I FREAKING LOVE IT!!

(If we've ever been out on a date you can review me here)

I've already gone over Mirror 101 with you guys, and even talked about a blind date in reverse that I had while in NYC ... but today I want to walk you all through how to write a review.

First up though, to understand Mirror, you have to understand that people are fundamentally good at their core. If you're an uber negative nelly you will never ever be able to even PROCESS that people can genuinely be good. I lived an ENTIRE YEAR off of couch surfing and with TEN DOLLARS to my name yet I never went without a shower, food to eat, or anything in between. I can ATTEST with tangible PROOF that people are SO FREAKING AWESOME!!!

Yes, sometimes someone will hit you with a brick in your head, and yes sometimes a date might make you cry - but those are one offs. People are DAMN good at their core, and to understand how a service like this might work, you have to have to have to understand that basic principle first.

That being said, we can now move on ...

Mirror is located over yonder - and here is the purty landing page ...

(to navigate the carousel you can use your keyboard scrolling to the left and right)

K, so now I am going to write a review on Steve Ward from VH1's Tough Love.

Steve and I went out on a date last October in Philly, and he's a pretty cool dude. (read more about that here ... but PS. I WAS FREAKING RIGHT ON GOOGLE PLUS YOU WHACKADOODLE NOODLE!!! He's a HELLA smart guy, but being in the trenches I saw things SO FREAKING DIFFERENTLY. BAHHH!!!)

Step 1: While on the landing page, hover your mouse to the upper right hand corner over "write a review"

Step 2: Click on the appropriate review type.

Steve and I went out on a date, so I am going to select "relationship," however if we were also totes besties I could also write a friendship review. I'll save that for when he returns my last call. ::sigh::

This is the next screen that will greet you ...

I am now going to type in Steve's name (first and last), sex, and a quality that makes him unique.

In his case, I am going to write Genius/ TV Star since he is literally one of the smartest people I have ever met, and also obviously on a TV show.

Next, I am going to use the slider to select his age ... Steve is between 30-34.

Now I am going to write where he lives, and his home base is currently in Philly.

Next, I am going to upload a picture of him. For Steve this is easy since he's a celebrity ... all I have to do is go to google. But for anyone else, just go to their twitter or Facebook page. Even if its set to private you can at least view their default picture and snag that to upload. (Just make sure you clear off your desktop images once you are done so you're not staring at your exs image, haha.)

Here's the image I'm going to use for Steve ...

UGH he's so friggen CCUUTTTEEE!!!

Step 3: Enter in their phone number, Facebook URL, or email to verify you actually do know this person.

This is where things get interesting. You only have to enter two of the three, but this is how Mirror can tell that I actually know Steve versus being some crazed psycho that just wants to talk shit. I have all three info on Steve, but I am only going to enter in his phone number and email addy.

SUPER important to know that NONEEEEEEEEEE of this info is public. All they do is ping it and make sure it is a legit number, and is actually belonging to the person you say it belongs to - that's IT!!! THIS INFORMATION IS NEVER EVER EVER PUBLIC NOR WILL MIRROR CALL ANYONE OR EMAIL THEM ANYTHING. They collect this info STRICTLY for verification purposes so they can ping it. SUPER important to remember. I've personally written over 100 reviews, and not a single person has complained to me yet nor has even told me that Mirror sent them anything. Super super super important to keep in mind - trust, this is all kosher for Passover.

Now, I am going to enter in Steve's info and click the green button to move on to the next page.

Step 4: Write a review of the relationship.

Once you click the green button, it will then bring you to this screen ...

This is where you write the review of your relationship with the person.

Am I still in a relationship with Steve? Nope!

Then, I am going to use the slide bar and select how long Steve and I were together.

Here was my response ...

BOOM! One date.

How did we meet? We met online (on Ustream actually)

I am now going to write a description of my date with Steve in this box ...

This is where all the dirty deets go. Whoop whoop!

Next, I am going to select when the relationship ended, the reason why, and then I am going to click the green button again.

Step 5: Review your date's dateAbility

Next up, I am going to highlight four traits that make Steve great, and two traits that maybe he could work on. (Again, Mirror is trying to simply be a reflective review of the person. No one is without their faults, it is through this transparent experience they are hoping to provide a stronger definition of "truth.")

After I've selected the four positive traits, and two things he can work on ... I am then brought down to this ...

Here I am going to enter my favorite things about Steve, along with his interests.

Next, I am going to slide the bar over to rate his performance in the relationship. "I was a better person for having met Steve", so that is what I selected - followed by my own performance which is "I gave it my best effort."

Then, I am going to fill out what Steve was like in the relationship in the box below ...

And once that is filled out, I am going to click the green button moving on to the sexAbility portion of the review.

Step 6: Review your date's sexAbility

This was one of the things that scared me the most about Mirror. It's one thing to review a date, a friendship - whatever ... but to SEXUALLY review someone? Oh holy fuck that is SCARRRYY!! I gotta say though, I have three reviews currently posted, and one of them includes my own sexAbility, and it made sense ... read!

This review actually helped me. I dated this guy before I gave up casual sex, and he was TOTALLY right. I do like to get fucked, and I previously would freak out over "sweet sex." I've since been working with the Modern Day Shaman to address some of my own issues - but had I had this information even last summer I GUARANTEE you it would have jolted me out of that pattern faster.

Very very very useful.

Steve and I didn't have sex (although he did kiss me on the cheek! WINNING), so I selected "there were no such moments."

Step 7: Submit your review.

Finally, you click the red button and submit your review. Mirror's algorithm then scans the review to pick up for anything super negative and hateful, followed by their in house team that also reviews everything by hand to make sure it's kosher to go. Over 90% of all Mirror's reviews are positive or constructive.

That's NUTTSSS but again goes back to what I was saying up top that people are fundamentally good at their core. If you don't believe that then anything I can say about this service won't make sense ... but to understand that basic principle, you will get it and see where the value add is in being transparent.

Mirror doesn't publish anything deemed "hateful" or "overly negative." In fact, I had a HORRIBLE date with this former hockey player, and my review actually got turned down by their system. ANNNDDD also if for whatever reason someone has written a review of you that you think is inaccurate you can email them to get it taken down. Mirror isn't trying to "expose" anyone, rather just provide people with a more accurate picture of who you really are based on the people in your life.

There ya go, nerds!! You can read the review of Steve when it gets approved (which is usually done within 24 hours)

 Happy reviewing!!!
