My facebook inbox is a cacophony of people asking me to do things, go places, watch things, pass them along, and rejecting my sexual advances. But today this was in my inbox. It’s a 9 minute video, and it made me cry. Comedy is such a raw and honest art form, but there is a level of superficiality to the art form, in that you have to keep a smile on your face, the audience has to feel like you’re in control, you have to bury whatever is going on in your life.
I have seen a billion performances, but never have I seen such an honest expression of frustration, anguish, love, confusion, anger, and fear. Make sure everyone knows you love them, take nothing for granted.
Hug someone.
Also in other news, I’m getting booked a lot more, and i’m realizing more and more how much of a natural progression improvement is. I always took whatever natural talent I have for being funny for granted. But lately every time I hit the stage, I find myself being more free, more in the moment, and having a great time living in the spontaneity of the moment. I hope you all find this feeling in whatever you do for a living. Especially strippers, Jesus I love strippers.
