#NerdsUnite: Poetic Peppering of Parfleche
<editorsnote> Sam is a fan of Mario Kart 64, poetry, and what he calls, "sneak reading" at night. He's a superly duperly talented poet, and would like to share with you one of his latest poems. Cause like poems are the things that poets right, er, write ... I mean that's just obvious ... clearly ... shut up Jen. Take it away Sam!!! </editorsnote>
#TalkNerdyToMeLover's Sam Kellett
A toad was hopping on his way,
When out of nowhere he,
Decided it was time for him
To change himself, to be,
The greatest toad there ever was.,
A toad none else could mock.
So he proclaimed for all to hear,
“Today, I learn to walk.”
A thing to know, in case you don’t
Is toads all long to walk.
In fact it's all they talk about,
That is, if toads could talk.
He fastened up his britches,
He hastened to his feet.
He reared up full and took a step—
And fell. He was not beat.
As all the other animals
Were laughing in the glade,
The toad regained composure:
His decision had been made.
Again he tried to take a step,
Again instead he fell.
Repeating yet again, anon,
What just could not end well.
At last, exhausted, as night came,
He lay upon the ground.
His will remained, but strength was gone,
And just could not be found.
His breathing became ragged,
His heart, it beat so fast.
He knew what soon would happen.
He knew he would not last.
So he lay still and gazed above,
As his small world was spent.
The smile upon his lips said, “Well,
“I tried, and I’m content.”
