They're Talking Nerdy Baby: #NerdsUnite

Wow. Wow. Wow. There is nothing like waking up in a hotel room in Chicago after a cold shower and reading this ...

Hey Jen,

Normally I’m not the kinda guy to send this kinda email but i guess that’s the point.

“Our greatest fear is not that we are inadequate,
but that we are powerful beyond measure.

It is our light, not our darkness, that frightens us.
We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant,
gorgeous, handsome, talented and fabulous?

Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.

Your playing small does not serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking
so that other people won't feel insecure around you.

We were born to make manifest the glory of God within us.
It is not just in some; it is in everyone.

And, as we let our own light shine, we consciously give
other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our fear,
our presence automatically liberates others.”

Have you heard this quote before? Its by Marianne Williamson. I hadn’t before until today. It would be nice to suggest I am some eager beaver reader and that’s how I came by it but actually it was from watching the movie “Coach Carter”. It’s nice isn’t it?

You may be wondering why I decided to send you this by now. Well i’m not gonna say quite yet. First a tad more background...

I’ve been following your twitter and reading TalkNerdyToMeLover for around a month now. To begin with out of curiosity following your appearance on “Bagged and Boarded” but I quickly found you and the site to be particularly engaging. Your honesty, candidness and positive nature was so refreshing. I could feel how you could take social media, something many do during lunchtimes and evenings in etc, and live off of it. Through it even.

Anyway, earlier today I caught up with the first episode of “2 Girls, 1 Livestream”. Very much enjoyed it however, a couple of times you were challenged on what the value of what you do is and you appeared to struggle to be able to explain it. Yes you are transparent in explaining the sitchenarios you’ve experienced that you document online, but the value in doing that and how you do it just felt so much more to me. So that was swimming round the back of my head until I hit 4 in the morning (Getting coursework done, funzies!) and I have this “Coach Carter” film on in the background, while i am (semi-)watching it, the dude I only know otherwise as the other friend in the short lived show “Reaper”, stands up and says the quote I have shown you know.

And something clicked.

This said so definitely what I felt I get from what you do. When you (or your buddies) post on your site, even when you tweet, your openness and positivity, makes me more open and positive. You share your experience, sometime I can relate, sometimes not, but always it puts a fire in my stomach to experience things myself in a fuller way, to say yes to things.

You shine Jen, and by doing so the way you do, you give me the inspiration to shine in my own way to.

So, I guess, somewhere in there is a thank you and keep doing what your doing.
