#WTF: About last night ... can I get a rundown?
How do these things happen? I keep asking myself - I swear I don't plan this shit, but yah, just gonna go with it.
SOOOOOO, tonight - I had a date with a duderino who calls himself "Hank Scorpio." Literally - go through the posts. We met off OKC, he became a reader of the site, and sufficently posted and commented enough to the point where I said uncle, and alas! on a date we went.
First off, bless this dudes heart. Amazing dude, really nice guy - could have told you in the first :30 seconds of sitting down he had the saddest eyes I've ever seen. Mind you too, I had the most bat shit, emotionally charged day, and I sat there - looked into the eyes of this attractive, incredibly sweet human being and felt overwhelmingly sad; life is reflective. He said he didn't understand what I meant when I said that, but in that very moment, I felt this feeling that words could never convey. Everything in the universe is comprised of energy and matter. We can't deny that, it's a scientific fact. Period end of sentence. How could someone ever sit there and think that if you're on a date, or a job interview - the person on the other side of that table would not be able to pick up on it? It's cool, I used to be that way as well - a REALLY difficult thing to understand, but from my side of the table it was incredibly matter of fact. I just wanted to give him a hug. And dude, totally not saying that in a condescending way - I really don't know how to properly articulate it other than he needed to clear his cache. We are not our past. That, again, took me a REALLY long time to understand - but let it all go! It doesn't matter! Stop holding onto it! It's like the quote from Buddha:
"Holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else; you are the one who gets burned."
Just let it go. And trust, this comes from a bitch that's been through some crazy crazy crazy shit - just let it all go. Life is SO much better on the other side!! BAHH!!!
FTR however, he did say the funniest thing ever! I was talking about the fact that all I ever have to do is post on something, and then run my SEO work for that day based upon the psychology of the end user actually searching for the exact something I want them to find. I was saying in this case about a guy that I wanted. I said yeah, all I have to do is post on it, and then run my SEO based upon those factors. Without skipping a beat he turns and says,
"did you just equate fate to how you manage your search engine optimization?"
Yes! I said! As we ALLLLL know, there is no fate. You create your own destiny. Why not give it a little push by understanding SEO. HAHAHAAHAHAH!!! DUDE! I can get SO specific on just the type of people I want to find me - ANNNNDDD by making myself so available in social media, I can also make the conversation happen. Find me on Twitter here! Facebook here! Foursquare here! and OkCupid here! *whew*
THENNNNNNNNNNNN ... I got a text on the way over to meet Hank, that we had tickets to see @VerticalHorizon and meet the duderinos after. 10 degrees of separation - knew a duderino, that knew a duderino. Amazing! (EVEN bumped into TNTML's Dusty at the show! Smallest. World. Ever.) Got us free tickets, etc. But said to me after, yahhhh! We'll totally get you to meet them, had no idea you were such a fan, etc. Me, being the storyteller in real time tweeted that, hey, about to meet the band! How awesome! Peeps wrote back - amazing! THEENNNNN, the duderino takes his chickadee and her friend up there to meet them, comes back to me and says - sorry, Matt wasn't feeling it. I'm TOTALLY not trying to be that chick, trust, they put on an AH-MAZING show - free tickets to boot - but seriously? What wasn't he feeling? I understand in the past, that PR shit might have worked, but welcome to social media! We tweet, post on Facebook and appropriately update IN REAL TIME! You can't pull this shit, man! And I ain't hating - again, amazing show, this guy is totes awesome sauce, but I feel like this is an area of opportunity for bands out there in general that nerdy people like me are out there. We're tweeting and posting in real time, and if something like this doesn't go the way that you said earlier it would, you're not only saying no to the person there - but to all of the people that follow them in real time. It's a paradigm shift. He said to me after that he owes me, and yada yada - bless his heart babe, you don't owe me anything. Just really dug this particular band, been really listening to their shiznat and even posted on it over and over and over and over and over specifically for about the last month or so, but clearly been a fan since just about day one. It presents a unique opportunity for bands in real time to connect with their fans and their fans audiences!!! THAT is social media marketing!! BAHHH!!! Best of times, and worst of times el duderinos!
Either way - like I said, fucking AWESOME show! I was in the front row, and because of the panda on my head - haha, Matt came up first and shook my hand. Really fucking rad dude, man! Really great show, but again - liability for the tweeters in the audience that could be telling their own stories in real time. Expectations shouldn't be set if something isn't going to happen. Ya know what i mean jelly bean???
Amazeballs though all around. Thanks a heapppppppppp to the @TheRoxy!! Oh and looky looky what I spotted!!!
Have you guys seen the TNTML and @AnnieAuto Ustream? Cause uh, yeah, it's pretty fucking AWESOME!!!!
ANNNDDDD if you wanna buy the single from @iamfrench and @kaleycuoco it's available over yonder. Totes just sayin that too, cause all of the proceeds go to the humane society ... cause uh, yah! Chris and Kaley are awesome like that. And uh, yah ...
