#Oscars: Fancy Pants on Day 1!
Well hello there. Fancy seeing you here. Come round often? RAWRR!! bwahaha! oh my nutty buddy in puddy, I am in the greatest mood ever today. I can't believe all of the cool shit we've got coming up. The schedule this week is JAM PACKED! Totally not kidding ... I have raspberry, blueberry, oh and blackberry ... *drool* blackberry jam uuuuhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
Stop it, Jen!
Either way, totally just went to pick up my Oscars Setup badge *cue 4sq checkin*
BOOM.
This gives me full access to all of the behind the scenes fancy pants stuff that is going on this week.
Those events will include, but are not limited to:
2/24: Red carpet food and beverage sampling. YUMMMM!! FOOD!!
2/26: mtvU oscar contest coverage
Plus, I just get to basically putz around on the grounds all week. THAT I am looking forward to. I'm totally an explorer, I just kinda go with it - and usually end up having a story to tell afterwards.
Then on SUNNDAAYYYYY ... I head over to the Night of 100 Stars Oscar viewing party at the Beverly Hilton. See, to actually get a seat at the Oscars, the academy does a lottery. I worked in movie marketing for 2 years when I first came to LA, and my old boss was in the academy. If memory serves me correct, they go out to 500 members of the academy (with their plus 1). Even if you are a member of the academy, you are not guaranteed a seat at the oscars - nuts! My old boss was lucky that he had been selected for the last 5 years in a row. This is the holy grail to Los Angelinos. If you guys have anyone that you want to meet, or want to see - lemme know. Dude, especially for the viewing party on Sunday. The guest list is INSANE!!! Plus there's going to be a lot of free alcohol. Hello, Flipcam? Are you ready?!?!
Guys, you have to understand, this is such a fucking dream. I can't believe this is happening. Blows my mind. Do what you love, and watch everything fall in place. BAHH!! K ... tangent ... but seriously, living in Hollywood during Oscar week is the PITS! I've lived in LA for almost 7 years, and in Hollywood for almost 4. Can you imagine going to the grocery store and not being able to because, oh yeah! the Oscars have shut down the entire area. It's pretty lame - there's loads of traffic and the entire town comes to a screeching hault. There's no avoiding this thing, the road closures run all week.
Super grateful to have this opportunity though. Went exploring today and this is all I got for ya ...
These are the rafters that you see above the red carpet upon arrival. Nothing too exciting just yet, all of this just started this morning.
BUT!!!! Guess who I saw in the valet line outside the hotel ...
He was bustin a serious sag, and what looked like a case of the mondays. Didn't want to bother him ... but I have to admit, I was tempted to just bust out with a WIIIILLLLLDDD THIIIIINNNNNNGGGGG!!
There ya go! That's what's happenin so far!
