#Amazeballs: Skyway Bridge Jumpers Website

Tonight, I went to dinner with my family in Sarasota and on the way down we rode over the famous Sunshine Skyway Bridge.

It's pretty rad looking, and on the way back - I piped up asking my parents if anyone had ever survived a jump. They said yes, and there was actually a website devoted to counting the number of deaths, saves, and survivors.

SHUT THE FRONT DOOR!!! I screamed - there's a freaking website??

I then popped on my droid and found this loverly site ...

It talks about how many deaths, saves, and survivors there were from the bridge. Some of the numbers will blow your mind - ANNNNNDDDDDD there's even a description of what happens to your body upon impact.

according to the st. petersburg times: "anyone who jumps from a point close to the center of the bridge, hits the water in about 3.5 seconds at about 75 mph. the impact usually breaks bones and ruptures organs. some live for minutes before they drown".
know this: unless you slam into the rocks, chances are good that you won't die immediately when you hit the water. it will hurt like all hell. your broken body will struggle to stay afloat. intense pain for who knows how long before you finally succumb to a horrid drowning death. maybe you will survive after all, now with life long debilitating injuries. are you really up for that?

OMG so interesting!!! I love love love learning about what happens to the human body under extreme set of circumstances. I'm ADDICTED to forensic TV shows and love consuming up any knowledge like this.

Pretty freaking amazing, and totally worth a read.
