Fun with #OKCupid: 3 emails ... 3 different responses

First up, if you haven't read my OKC profile - you can check it out over yonder. Might make some sense to the things guys reply to, haha. But for reals, these are all actual emails I've received in the last 48 hours, and my actual responses back to them. It is through this transparent experience that I hope you all can take away some knowledge on what works and what doesn't in the hopes of making your online dating experiences that much more fanschmastically awesome. YAYYYY ONLINE DATING YAYYY!!! K ... cool ... here we go ...

First off, thanks for the compliment. But really dude ... you will make me feel so good, you promise me that - and you would never let me down? What does that even mean? I have no emotional investment in you duderino. This is an opening email and all you're doing is coming off a bit creepy.

What would have worked better is if he had pulled a single detail from my profile and asked me to elaborate. For example, right now my travel schedule is updated in the first paragraph (in case I show up on the location integrated OKC app), maybe he could say - so! Tell me about a great place I can grab a beer in Boston? Or have a favorite NYC spot? It's just an opener!! Keep it short. Keep it simple. Keep it real.

Actual Response: None. Too creepy.

Raised by hippies? That's so rad!! This email is great. Complimentary without being too over the top - the genuine nature of this dude just bleeds from this message.

He did a great job as well of picking things from my profile and then relating that back to something he has experienced.

My only complaint if you could call it that, is that it is a taaaddddd too long. Remember, women on online dating sites are like speeding trains. We are INUNDATED with messages (especially OKC which is a free dating site), so sometimes if an email is too long I won't even invest the time to read. Nothing personal to the dude, you just have to catch out eye. Keep. It. Simple. Stupid.

Actual Response: That's rad dude. I can't imagine being raised by hippies - even being in that commune for a week was an experience. I accidentally went out on that many dates and then just wrote a thesis. I experience life organically and then look back and figure out what portions of it I can package. That's rad - hope you had a great yoga session!

Thanks, man. Not quite sure what to respond with this one as I don't really think he's asking me out - more just commenting on the site, which I equally appreciate. But seriously, I'm not on OKC for friends, or as a portal for emails - I'm here to find a guy!! Ask me out, dude!!!!!!!

Actual Response: Thanks for reading, man!! #loveyoulongtime

Hope this helped you guys understand at least what is out there. Happy dating!!

#love
