Ahoi hoi nerderinos!!! Dudes, I'm in NYC!!!!
AHHHHHHHHHH!!! So. So. SO excited to be here!!!!
Just got done with my first round of meetings this morning, taking a quick shower, maybe a power nap - and hitting the road again.
Dudes, this shit is a STRAIGHT HUSTLE!!! Don't get me wrong, I fucking love it - but holy shit ... I am literally running around NYC from meeting to meeting - sometimes with all my luggage - going in and saying the same thing over ... and over ... and over ...
Hi, my names Jen Friel! I'm a lifecaster and corporate sponsored minimalist that barters social media to live ... and yada yada yada.
I can't stress this enough - YOU HAVE TO DO WHAT YOU LOVE IN LIFE!!! I love love love love LOOOOVVEEE this site, this brand, and can't WAIT to grow it - but if I didn't fucking UNBELIEVABLY ADORE what I am doing, I would have dropped dead weeks ago. As is, I've been running on full cylinders for the last 2 months, and see no end in sight until at least first quarter next year. It's very very very exciting to watch something you built grow to be bigger than you.
BAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!
It's gnarly being here though because I am not really in control of my schedule. I basically tell my management what days I am here, and they book the meetings. THENNNN, with any left over time for slots they couldn't book, I reach out to my own network and say what's up dudes - let's meet! And take more meetings that way. It's rad, and kinda how this shit works. People won't normally reach out - you have to pop up on their radar screen. Location based social media can help with that, but people are insular beings. (Taking public transportation has really highlighted that fact for me.) We ALLLLLLLLL live in our own little worlds and to understand you're not special, just awesome I think is a really big hurdle for people to overcome. You clearly don't want to be obnoxious - there is a fine line, but I email and email and email everyone I can think of that I've connected with to say hello! And frankly, I've found that the closer to the time that I am in town, the better. I was emailing people last night asking for meetings for today and tomorrow.
It's pretty rad man. BAHHHHHH!! Just so gosh darn excited, man.
I stayed in a pretty cool hostel in Harlem last night ...
There were a ton of rooms, and only a group of 4 Russians staying there - so I wound up with a room to myself ...
$39 bucks in AirBnB ANNNNNNNNDDD it was bed bug free!
This nerd is one word ... WINNING!!!
Totally better than staying at that hotel in chicago that was a glorified brothel. That place was so so so so SOOOOOOOOO awful!! Oh goodness.
Just super grateful nerderinos. I'm having a blast, and loving every minute of this hustle. If you're in NYC you can follow my FourSquare checkins - and you're more than welcome to come by and say howdy. I'll be in the city til tomorrow afternoon.
Peace love and lollipops! Have a greeaeaatttt day everyone!
