Report: #CES Day 2
Well, day one for me ... day two for the rest of the world. I've spent the day thus far in the Central Hall and I have to say, so far - not so impressed.
Don't get me wrong, there are some spectacular displays of awesomeness from Samsung and Sony, but overall the only thing that I think would ABSOLUTELY change my life is the powermat charger (which I already knew about). It is a single docking station that wirelessly charges your ipod, cell phone, and other wireless devices. VERY cool!!

CHORDS!!!!
Yayers! It's super pretty too ... a very important factor in technological advancements.
I've been broadcasting most of the day live on Ustream, and the shocking thing is that the press seemed to be more interested in me than other displays. I can't even BEGIN to tell you how many pictures I've been in, and how many people have asked me about what I'm doing. One guy even said wow, that is so high tech! I said no, its my droid and a free app!! =)
Awareness is the key, the technology is already present - but what is Ustream doing about it? Why is what I am doing so revolutionary?? It's CRAZY!!!
I am going to go live again as much as possible - but man the droid needs better battery power!!
Previous reports of 3D-TV's and netbook's domination are correct. I feel like each of the displays are just trying to out do the other without hammering home what sets each manufacturer apart. Bottom line: brand loyalty.
Please understand as well folks, I am by no means a techie expert - but if I have this opinion, there have to be at least a few others in the world out there that have it as well.
3D TV is unbelievable, however I do all of my TV watching now online, so the monitors had more relevance to me. I don't think I'd watch any more TV by adding the third dimension, however I will say it is an incredibly vivid display. I can see the appeal. Rumored price point is approximately $200 - $300 more than your traditional TV set.
I will say from a marketing perspective, it will change the game as far as advertising is concerned. How many times do you just sit in front of your TV and just zone out? This is much more of an augmented reality experience, sans the gnarly headache from traditional 3D movie watching. You have someone's ABSOLUTE 100% attention. You're wearing the googles, and you are in the zone unlike anything you have ever felt before. It's definitely going to change the game. For my lifestyle of being so nomadic, mobility is more my speed. Having an extra TV set doesn't exactly excite me as much as others.
Speaking of mobility, lets talk netbooks. You cannot mention the word netbook here without someone piping up about the iSlate. Everything else here seems a bit more like a second fiddle. I honestly have no desire for a netbook. I need a big screen display for my poor eye sight (see men, size DOES matter ...). However, I am definitely intrigued about the user experience of something like the iSlate. HP's slate however is thoroughly disappointing. I preface that by saying that I am not a Window's fan in general, but THEIR version of the slate is tragic. We need the sex appeal of apple to sell it. HP created a colored Kindle, very sad. Go back to the drawing board boys, let the big boys play.
Overall, been a great day networking. I've already had two people come up to me saying they were big fans of the site, which set me over the MOON!! So happy to be uniting nerds of all shapes, sizes, colors, backgrounds ... etc.
Rock on nerds, rock on!
More to come!!

PS. Have not been confused yet for someone belonging to AVN. The laptop and nerd gear makes a BIG difference ... hehe.
