#Love: Geeky Gifts for Your Valentine

<editorsnote> Nerds, meet my buddy Maribeth. She writes for HalloweenCostumes.com, but wanted to take a special moment from her day today, and make you guys aware of some REALLY cool geeky gifts for Valentines day. Oh and FTR, nerds are products of genetic predispositions, geeks are raised. Just saying ... I only have one more thing left to say ... HIT IT MARIBETH!! </editorsnote>

#TalkNerdyToMeLover's Maribeth Curley

Shopping for the nerdy type isn't always the easiest thing. Trust me, I’m one of them, so I know from experience. We have a pretty specific set of interests that you need to cater to, lest you be scoffed at for your complete inability to shop. Feeling stuck this Valentine’s? Hopefully I can give you some ideas and insight into awesome gifts that you can get me. I mean them.  (Maybe me.)

For the ladies:

Gwen Stefani's Harajuku Lovers Headphones by Dr. Beat (iBeats)

Being a nerd usually goes hand-in-hand with an intense love for electronics, and headphones are obviously something that most of us use every day. If you're shopping for a girl who loves “super kawaii” things – you know the type: always downloading episodes of their favorite Japanese drama series and known to have multiple copies of the Gothic & Lolita Bible laying around – look no further than Gwen Stefani's line of Harajuku Lovers in-ear headphones. There’s a set for every J-pop fan, with prices ranging from $71.99 for the Space Age set (with interchangeable color plates!) to $41.99 for the Super Kawaii set, with a mid-level option as well.  Dr. Beat has great physical and sound quality that has come to be well-known, so you know you can trust this purchase, which is exclusive to Target.

Star Trek Enterprise Plush

No matter what age, most girls will still love something warm and fluffy to cuddle up with at night and, no, I'm not talking about a boyfriend. I'm talking about plushes. (I mean, I'm 26, and I still have Simba and Nala sitting on my pillow when I go off to work in the morning.) However, it will take a special type of a girl who will fully appreciate the glory that is this plush version of the legendary Star Trek ship. And if you might be afraid of the dark? Don't worry. Give it a squeeze and LED lights will blink on the ship. Cute!

Captain America Plushie/Vinyl Figure

Let's stay on the plush train, because these are just too cute NOT to share with all of you.  I'm not sure if you girls love Captain America as much as I do?  But the second I saw this Captain American plushie by FunKo, I got the proverbial grabby hands. However, if you're not into cute and cuddly things, but you still find this little guy super adorable – and how could you not? – have no fear! He comes in vinyl, too! Perfect. If you’re not crazy about the Cap’n, you can pick up figurines and plushes made in the same cute likeness of Wonder Woman, Superman, The Green Lantern, and Spiderman. (Plus, you could always pick up an actual Wonder Woman costume if superhero-love has led you down the cosplay path.)

For the boys:

Darth Vader Costume T-shirt

Let's be real, it's nearly impossible for me to write any type of gift article without throwing in my beloved Star Wars in there, and this time, the reference is for the guys. Sure, this shirt says it's a costume, but let's be real: you're gonna be wearing it weekly, if not daily. And if people ask you about your "robot shirt", be sure to smack them with your lightsaber (I know you have one or five.)

Mario Character Kit for Nintendo DS Lite, DSi and 3DS

Without even meeting them, I know two things of the boys reading this article: 1. You're a gamer, and 2. You have played (and love) a Mario game at one point in your life. Loving Mario is as American as an Italian plumber created in Japan. If you want to show your love and respect for everyone's favorite mustached hero, buy your nerdy guy friend a Mario themed DS set. Dressing your new 3DS in Mario’s clothes is a great way to show your love for the retro gaming icon.

LEGO

I wanted to get some expert opinions from an up-and-coming nerdy guy, so I called up my amazing, but clearly dorky already, four-year-old nephew. I asked his opinion on what I should include for my last item for you fellas and he went VERY classic: LEGO. They never go out of style, from age four to, well, however old you guys are. Do you know what they’re doing with LEGO these days? A lot of stuff. My nephew’s favorite is the LEGO Wii Remote case, which is totally customizable because you can build right on it. That is awesome and you know it. Also, let's be real – if my nephew likes it, you're probably going to like it, too.

Maribeth Curley wrote this article for HalloweenCostumes.com. She is now currently trying to figure out how to get away with ordering all these geeky gifts for herself this Valentine’s Day.
