Craptastical, Fall TV Is Back.
Oh, how I've been dreading it. Any other year of my life I would be so freakin' excited for the return of good TV.
But as the Fall TV season kicks off, I'm reminded of how long I have been going through what I've been going through which saddens me and adds to the fact that I'm really missing the positive aspects of my old relationship.
Comedies are meant to be shared. They simply are not as funny when you view them by yourself. Some of my favorite times were when he and I were just sitting on the couch with the dog and cat laughing our asses off watching TV. He's the kind of person that has a laugh that makes other people laugh. We would always laugh so hard together. His laugh is also so loud that you have no choice but to pause the TV and wait for it to die down. Sometimes you have to rewind the show a bit too, because you might have missed a line or two. It's the kind of laugh that is contagious, it's honestly one of my favorite things about him.
These are the comedies that I'm freaking out about watching sans the ex fiancé (I honestly don't know what I'll do for The Walking Dead, I get nightmares):
- The Simpsons: Through the years The Simpsons have been a staple point TV show for us. We used to put this on like how most people put on music. Every time we cooked dinner together, one of DVDs was playing in the background.
- It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia: pretty much, if you tell me you like this show I know you're cool.
- Modern Family
- Tosh.O: neither of us even bothered to watch this past season without the other
- How I Met Your Mother: Oh man, this show... I always thought of us as Marshall and Lily (even they break up!!).
- Archer
Also, since we are both huge 500 Days of Summer fans I really Wanted to watch The New Girl with him.
Since he took the DVR with him when he moved out, I knew I needed to set up series recordings for a lot of the returning shows. On Thursday night I sat on my couch with my printed out fall TV schedule in my hand. I was on my way to hang out at a friend's house and watch the season premiere of The Vampire Diaries (most definitely a show the ex and I did NOT watch together). It was then that I realized that the premiere of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia was that night. My heart sank. I set the series to record and headed out the door to my friends house. We watched The Vampire Diaries and then watched The Secret Circle (I am a complete sucker for anything vampire or witch related). After we were done watching those recorded shows, FX was on the TV. The season premiere of Archer was ending. Then the best thing happened. My friend turns to me and asks, "Do you like It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia?" I nodded yes, in a bit of shock, I didn't think she was into that kinda show (I find that while I have plenty of female friends it is hard to find ones that like the same TV shows/movies that I am into). We proceeded to laugh our asses off throughout the show. I was so thankful that I didn't have to watch it by myself.
Further proof that the best thing you can do for yourself when you are going through the pains of a break up is surround yourself with friends that can laugh at someone barfing blood on their unsuspecting date with you.
