The State of Music IS #ImperfectHarmonies

#TalkNerdyToMeLover's Queen of Noise: @LikesGoyBoys

With my #MetalMiniTour over with and Tuesday night's Serj Tankian "Imperfect Harmonies" album release party wrapped, I've been ruminating on what's going on in the music business, and I don't mean from the POV of a new media maven. This kind of dawned on me when I was hanging out at Uproar in Irvine, and the main stage was dormant. Everybody was getting ready for Halestorm, and we're hanging at the booth, like this:

I'm approached by a guy, and was pretty obvious that he was a Disturbed fan, seeing as he shared the same shaved pate and prominent facial piercings as David Draiman, Disturbed's vocalist.

The guy unfurls his story about why he's done up like he is, and reveals that he became a Disturbed fan the night he clutched a fistful of pills, "the kind no stomach pump can save you from", he solemnly stated. A veteran of the US Army, he'd been suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, and felt like nothing good could possibly come from the husk of a human being he considered himself to be. He was rejuvenated by the barrage of guitar in the first bars of "Indestructable" on the radio and he thought better of taking his life.

These days, this gentleman is not only a hell of a David Draiman doppelganger, but a proud member of Disturbed's street team. That's productive, that's proactive, that's #UnapologeticallyAwesome. Music just might be the arche, (the divine power above all, the origin of all); it's definitely mine.

Disturbed may not be your cup of tea. That's fine, there's somebody else that'll swill that cup for you. There should be variety in music, and what's great about tours like Uproar is that it spans genre/sub-genre themes and unites people

Serj Tankian's new album is titled Imperfect Harmonies. Oxymoron? Not if you delve into the philosophy of it. There's something of a paradox there, and that's what makes us human. That's why certain sounds are appealing, and some are repulsive.

I'm going to listen to Serj's latest joint and tell you about my perception of the listening party. Thanks for having us, Ultimate Ears & @Platinumevent
