My #DroidX
I switched over to the Droid X from the iPhone 3G at the beginning of the month. I have to say, that was the best decision I've made on a cell phone. It's absolutely amazing. Here's my review on it.
The first thing you'll notice picking up the phone is it's size. It may seem awkwardly huge at first, but trust me, it's perfect. It has a 4.3 inch screen which is almost a full inch bigger than the iPhone 4. Like I said, it may seem huge, but it's really not. It still fits in my pocket without making a huge bulge. I swear, it's just my cellphone!
Open source applications are a big plus. Browsing the web, I stumbled upon a few apps that I wanted to try and was able to download them directly from the website. No App Market required. That's not to say anything bad about the app market. I found a couple of amazing apps such as LauncherPro and Handcent SMS which make your home screen and texts completely customizable. Texts can be formatted in any way you like. Using Handcent SMS, You can make texts look like iPhone or Blackberry texts, or completely customize it to your own style. LauncherPro allows you to customize your home screen by completely cleaning it and then allowing you to start from scratch. You can choose how many pages your home screen has, so you don't have to have the 1021039123 default pages. You can drop widgets of your choice wherever you want and resize them. A big plus is also having folders to organize your apps in. Love love love this app.

The OS is pretty awesome. If you are coming from an iPhone, it will take time to learn to navigate through the Android software. It took me about 3-4 days to set everything up to where I was happy. I still find myself changing things here and there. Part of the fun is learning how to use your device! Another cool thing that comes with this OS is Swype. This makes typing so much easier! There is a total learning curve for this. You have to relearn how to type, but it makes it much easier and much faster. I'm still learning how to perfect it, but I am amble to type and text much faster. Here's a video on Swype.
The camera on the Droid X is also fantastic. It's an 8 MP camera with auto focus and an LED dual flash. The camera quality is fantastic and with auto focus, it's ... it's... AMAZING. The camera software has some cool features such as panoramic mode or being able to take more than one picture per shutter click. There's tons of features and I have yet to play around with them all.
One thing I have noticed is a seemingly short battery life. Motorola claims 480 minutes of usage (8 hours), but I haven't found that to be the case. It could be because I'm still in the learning stage, so I'm constantly messing with things and changing settings, etc. If you're a big tech nerd and get this phone, I would recommend a second battery.
Call quality is A quality. This phone has not 1, but 3 mics to ensure call quality. The bountiful amount of mics are used to filter out unnecessary background noises and static, making your voice clear. That's right nerds, you can actually use this device as a phone! *ghasp*
This phone has some other really neat features which I haven't used. HDMI out (mini HDMI), voice-to-text, and the mobile hotspot. I've only had this phone for about 3 weeks, but I'm going to try out all of features on this phone.
All in all, I would recommend this phone to anyone and everyone. I love it! As much as I love my Apple products, I'm glad I didn't get the iPhone 4. This was a good buy and you won't be disappointed.
