What If #Twitter Was Down ... Forever?!!
#TalkNerdyToMeLover's Awesome Applesauce: Charles Quevedo
Communication is a very important part of what makes us human. We are the ONLY species on this planet that has invented technology to enhance our communication skills. It's that uniqueness that separates humans from other living species and makes us the top of the food chain.
Since the rise of Twitter, the site has changed the way the world communicates. In 140 characters or less; it keeps you in touch with old friends, helps you make new friends, market your business, helps raise money for cancer treatments, promotes political campaigns, keeps you updated on natural disasters & terrorist attacks, notifies you about missing children around the country, etc. With a few taps of your keyboard, the news of the world is at your fingertips ... all in real time.
This afternoon, "Twitter" went down for an hour or so. It's really no big deal, right? The micro-blogging site has gone down before ... and it has always come back. When the site went down for that short amount of time and nobody seemed to be able to get on for their daily fix of information, everybody rushed to "Facebook" in a crazed frenzy to find out what was wrong. People were desperately craving information, going through "information withdrawals" (yes, the site is that addicting). It got me thinking how helpless we would feel with no more "Twitter".
What would happen if "Twitter" was down ... forever? Would people totally freak out if the site didn't exist anymore? Well, we may NEVER ever have to worry about that scenario ever happening. Putting the magical genie back in the bottle is very difficult to do once it is released ... and I DON'T see anyone wanting to do that just yet with this one. It appears that "Twitter" has now become a valuable communication tool that the human species CAN'T live without ... and hopefully, it WON'T be going anywhere anytime soon.
