I'm a Gamestop Supa Star!

Some of you may know (if you follow me on twitter) that I landed a pretty sweet opportunity to work at the video game retail mega giant, Gamestop. Unlike most people who apply to work at Gamestop, I actually didn't have to begin at the bottom of the totem pole- which is working as a regular Game Advisor. Instead, I got to enter into the gate with a small manager role as a Senior Game Advisor with an opportunity to move up to Assistant Store Manager in 60 days.
It's funny because I actually didn't know how sweet this opportunity was until several friends/gamesop employees kept asking me, "HOW IN THE HELL DID YOU START AS A SGA?!" My answer: "I just asked". And I did! During my two interviews with the District Manager of Atlanta Gamestops, I simply stated that I was looking for a manager position, and that I wanted to move up in the company. We had some great talks, and he liked the fact that I had worked with Ubisoft and that I was a competitive gamer. To him that meant that my competitive nature would come in handy working at the retail level at Gamestop. The outcome of those great interviews was him calling me 1 month later and offering me a manager position at the one and only Gamestop Future Store of Atlanta!
The Freakin Gamestop of the Future? What is that?! Apparently, Gamestop is looking to change up their appearance and spruce up their design to complement the awesome technology the video game industry has introduced recently. There's going to be interactive touch screens everywhere and several demo stations. The store is rumored to be 3x bigger and brighter than your normal game store, plus at one Gamestop Future Store, there's a cool seating area for handheld gaming that looks like a hookah lounge!
I haven't seen the store yet (I've been training at another store), but I hear it's recently been finished on the inside. I'll be moving to the store next week, and believe me, you will get lots of pics because this is super exciting to me!
It's been kinda awesome, I'm not gonna lie. I had been looking for a job for over 5 months (again something you probably heard about in my twitter ramblings) so I feel truly blessed to have this opportunity! Monday, my boss called me a Super Star for doing so well in such a short time. I'm such a dork, I asked for a sticker, and he game me THIS!
HAHA!! I know, I'm a dork! But it made my night!
