Ok, what the hell. I hate to rain on the vampire parade, but it has to be done. I've been a fan of supernatural creatures for a long time; vampires, werewolves, zombies, trolls, and things of that nature. I read Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles as they were released and LOVED them (Interview With a Vampire, Queen of the Damned, etc). I think that part of the enjoyment I get from reading about supernaturals is that it allows my mind to be taken into a dark place. What would I do if I was in their shoes?
Once Twilight was released in 2008, my dark place was ruined. I have no problem with the story itself or the message it portrays, don't get me wrong. It's not my cup of tea, but it's as easy as not reading the books or seeing the movies. Well, at least that's what I thought at any rate. Everywhere I look, I see Twilight paraphernalia. I look down as I'm enjoying my ice cold beverage from Burger King, and guess who's looking back at me? Edward. I turn on the TV to watch Tosh.0 and what a suprise... a trailer for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse which I've only seen about 1,000 times already. My dark retreat has been replaced with images of pre-teens camping out for the midnight release of Twilight. Thank you Hollywood and the millions of mindless pre-teens for supporting Twilight and ruining vampires for me.
