Carrie Underwood = Carrie Fisher??
Per some crappy gossip website that I otherwise would never, EVER be caught reading:
Carrie Underwood and Mike Fisher tied the knot Saturday at secluded Reynold Plantation resort under a tent before 250 guests in Greensboro, about 75 miles east of Atlanta.
The super-secret wedding was covered by one single media outlet: People magazine. How much did they pay for exclusive access? Rumors are in the $2 million, more than covering the cost of the wedding itself, which was estimated to be at least $500,000, according to RadarOnline.
“We could not feel more blessed to have found each other and to have shared this day with our friends and family that mean so much to us!” the newlyweds told PEOPLE in a statement, signing their names “Mike & Carrie Fisher.”
People, which said she wore a Chantilly lace dress created for her by Monique Lhuillier, will provide photos and more details in its print edition next week.
Underwood paid for all 250 rooms for the entire weekend. Roads were cut off. The Sheriff’s office shooed people away who got too close and weren’t a guest. Everyone in town connected to the wedding, as well as employees of the resort, apparently had to sign confidentiality agreements, according to the Ottawa Citizen. It’s probably a fair bet the guests had to sign similar agreements and relinquish cel phones and the like. Thus, there have been no apparent leaks as of 9 a.m. Sunday morning. (My source has been incognito since 12:43 p.m. Friday.)
The waterways weren’t completely cut off. The intrepid Joanne Chianello of The Ottawa Citizen (Fisher is a big hockey player for the Ottawa NHL team) really tried to get close to the wedding by road and by waterway, hitching a boat to within 50 meters of the shore on Lake Oconee. She didn’t see the couple that day, noting the massive efforts at secrecy. Read her story here. She paints a picture of the small town of Greensboro, a place where former president George W. Bush, the late great Yankees player Mickey Mantle and singer John Mellencamp have visited.
Chianello and her photographer were able to hang out at the airport Sunday morning and catch Carrie and Mike departing the area via private plane. A photo the Citizen’s Chris Mikula took is here and based on what commenters are saying on the live blog, was quickly being posted uncredited all over the Web. This, from her live blog:
The newlyweds are about to take off in their private jet for their honeymoon. Chris and I have been hanging out at the airport all morning when a two-car sheriff’s escort arrived with a big grey SUV limo in tow that drove right onto the tarmac at 10.25 a.m.
Carrie and Mike posed for photos (behind the limo!) with airport staff. We barely got a glimose of them as they got on the plane, but they were dressed pretty casually – she in short-shorts (looking good!) with a light white shirt over what looked to be a striped tank top or possibly t-shirt. Also flat sandals. Her hair was up and she was looking pretty relaxed and happy (from what we could tell, anyway).
Mike was in a ballcap – big surprise – a t-shirt and shorts (I think!).
We weren’t close enough to yell congrats at them, and they couldn’t have heard us over the engines anyway!
That’s as close as we got to Ottawa’s golden couple on their wedding weekend – and frankly, we’re surprised we were able even to get that close!
At 2:55 p.m., she live blogged that she was finally able to get into the resort and spoke briefly to some guests, but security then forced them NOT to talk to the guests.
MJ says they are off to Tahiti and Bora Bora.
Only new detail I could find on the Ottawa Citizen live blog is that country singer Brandon Heath sang. No firm confirmation that Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Garth Brooks or Paula Abdul or anybody of A-List note was there.
Kicks 101.5’s Cadillac Jack flew over the wedding in a helicopter less than an hour before it began and snapped some picks. He went on Twitter about it. He landed before it was over but saw a helicopter he said hired by paparazzi take off soon after.
OMFG!!! LIVE BLOGGED FROM HER OWN WEDDING?!?!?!
Carrie when did you become such a nerd?!?! LOVE IT!!! Hey, you've got some mighty shoes to fill in Ms. Carrie Fisher 2.0!!!!
