Travel #Journalism for the Digital Age
I FIGURED IT OUT!!!! YESSSSS!!! I've been trying to see how I can package the Unapologetically Awesome Spring/ Summer 2010 Tour. I very matter of fact need corporate sponsors (or private investors), and I needed to come up with a way to explain to them my vision.
I first had to be very clear about what I wanted to do. I stopped listening to my brain and what it wanted to define as "logical and illogical." Remember, life is an illogical experience - trying to dictate logic to it is just flat out retarded. So, it comes down to what feels good and what doesn't feel good. My body CRAVEESSS adventure and travel. That's a given ... with that acting as the inspiration, this is what I came up with.
I want to travel the world, documenting my adventures in social media specifically marketed to the millennials. This isn't your grandmother's type of national geographic! We're the ADD generation!!! Make all the footage (blog posts, pictures, video, live feed) interesting, relevant, and engaging for all parties. Documenting the adventures IRT (in real time) is imperative, as we are shifting over to more of a real time web experience. Meet friends of TNTML along the way - checking in at new cool locations - literally everything I outlined back in January ... only on steroids.
This is like travel journalism for the digital age. I have every single tech toy possible (THANK YOU FORD!!) to document this journey, and a crazy cool platform to promote it on.
And dude, this isn't even MENTIONING the TNTML web series!! I am going to be doing like the Ryan Seacrest thing of traveling around, throwing to a live feed at various segments. I mean this is NUTS!! They will be promoted THERE as well!!! We've got this on LOCK!!!!
Just think about it ... what does all this social media stuff mean anyway? What does "having an online following" mean if you're not leveraging it?!? 100,000 YouTube subscribers, 500,000 followers on Twitter - what is the bottom line? When the #twitterbug knocked everyone's followers out last week, people were FREAKING OUT!! Why? Because they placed all their eggs in someone else's basket! Build your own platform and use social media as tools to market and promote it. That way you increase the engagement you have with your readers and the over all end user while maintaining control over the general platform itself. SOCIAL MEDIA IS JUST A TOOL PEOPLE!! Like the yellow pages back in the day!! Getting on "the facebook, the twitter, the youtube, the google," is great - but it's not enough. LEVERAGE. LEVERAGE. LEVERAGE!!!
Whew ... okay, I can breathe now ... back to designing the merchandise that is going up in the online store today. #GIDDY!!!!
The revolution is progressing nicely ... #NerdsUnite
