Bye, Bye, #Coffee: A nerd gives up the coffee to get down with life!
I gave up coffee today. No really, like doner than done! It honestly wasn't that hard since I only started drinking coffee a few months ago as a means to get off Diet Coke and Red Bull.
To handle the caffeine withdrawls, I went to the beach to recharge my batteries rather than pop a pill or take a nap, like my old self would have reverted to doing.
I have to say, never has embracing being such a nerd been so unbelievably rewarding. For reals ... TNTML not only helped me examine my own definition of the word nerd, it inspired me to be free-er than unsecured wifi at a tech conference - WHICH inadvertently inspired a revolution. I didn't set out to do so many weird things, it just kinda happened. You guys all gave me an excuse to try new things (like crashing the grammys!). Had it not been for all of your words of encouragement, I don't know where I'd be.
My family doesn't support how much time I spend on TNTML - or even anything I do with this or the Fiesta Movement ... My IRL friends know I work on the computer, but they have ABSOLUTELY no clue what I do ... I mean come on guys, this is LA.
However, the most amazing revolution happened in my own mind. I discovered that my "internet friends" were actually some of the best friends I've ever had in my entire life. When I've met them in person, it wasn't all weird being IRL all of the sudden ... it was kinda like we were just hanging out the other day at each other's house aka SKYPE. Back in the day, it used to be weird meeting people online, and there was always a level of trepidation and all out wackadoodle noodle.
Now, because of networks like Twitter, we get to know ALL the different sides of our friends, not just the ones they choose to show us. Twitter allows you to literally crawl inside your friend's brains and let you know what they are thinking. We've become virtual mind readers - and Facebook? Well, SAME THING! Only with pictures, and likes, and all that snazzy jazzy stuff. I love. love. love. LOVE social media!!! It has absolutely proven to me that where there is a will there is always always ALWAYS a way. It enabled me to launch this website, which helped me through a massive identity crisis, bestowed me with corporate sponsors, and OH yeah gave me an excuse to travel the country hanging out with my friends.
I mean COME ON!!!!! How nuts is all of this?? Or is this really nuts?? Shouldn't all of our dreams come true in life? We just have to remember to dream big enough ...
You all have no idea how much you mean to me. From the bottom of my very nerdy little heart, I appreciate every single set of eye balls that hits this site every day. Today was a big day for me, and it was inspired by all of you ... so for that, I thank you ... my one day children thank you ... my children's children thank you ...
Rock on nerds, rock on!
