Happily ever after: the first #Tweetwed

#TalkNerdyToMeLover's Ponder This

This post is for all you grumblers, saying Twitter is just about chitchat and superficial relations. It's, like most things in life, what you make it!

So here's a sweet Twitter story:

Stephanie Sullivan, living in Wilmington, North Carolina is the 48 year old founder of W3Conversions. She met Greg Rewis, (46, group manager for Adobe and living in Phoenix) at several web conferences. They decided to write a book together, called Mastering CSS with Dreamweaver CS3. Their work relationship got personal and they started dating each other. But because of their jobs and home cities they were forced to stay in contact via Mail, Skype and of course Twitter.

The next logical step was to ask the question of all questions through Twitter. On March, 3rd 2008 Greg posted the following tweet:

Three minutes later Stephanie responded:

About two years later, yesterday to be more specific, the actual wedding took place in Phoenix. But even then they kept it real and married with a guest list of only 10 people. Instead they created the hashtag #tweetwed and tweeted during the whole event…actually their children did, since Greg and Stephanie were kind of busy.

Stephanie's statement to the event was:

"We’ve both had church weddings but this time, there was no way because we have friends all over the world. My friends in New Zealand got married and people flew there to attend the wedding — that’s just so much to ask. We wanted to provide a way for people to participate and follow along and enjoy the happiness. We live on Skype and SMS and Twitter. That’s why we’re doing the wedding this way: Greg and I already live in a virtual world.
