#Myspace sells user's data ... umm and you think #Facebook isn't?
I just saw this post regarding the sale of personal data on Myspace. My only response is, it must be a REALLY slow day over at PCWorld.
What do you think Facebook does? Hello, Facebook ads!! Dude, you can set those up to market to 19 year olds who watch Desperate Housewives, MTV, and knit sweaters on days that end in Y. How is that any different?? Social media sites are fanschmasically awesome because you can communicate with people all over the world, connect with new friends, re-connect with old, and even wheel and deal some business in between. However, nothing in life is free. Hosting, email, and chatting takes up digital space ... and costs someone, somewhere, something. Come on guys ... this is like 2nd grade here. Of course marketers are going to try to figure out the most efficent way of selling you something, that's their JOB! If you have a problem with having your data being shared, it's a pretty plain and simple alternative ... don't use those social sites to begin with!!!
Here, I found someone who cares ...
