I am social media, and social media is me.

I had the most outrageous epiphany at dinner last night. I very literally am social media. No, not in some crazy egomaniacal manner ... but out of 10 people at dinner last night, I knew 3 - one of which I went to elementary school with in Bristol, Connecticut (yeah, I live in LA).

Here's the pooper scooper, be prepared some SERIOUS dots are about to be connected:

It was my best friend Shabana's birthday!

Everyone say hi to Shabana ... Shabana and I met 3 years ago. Want to know how? At another persons birthday dinner. Well, Shabana sat down across from me at the table, and had told me how she had worked for CAA. I said wow, what a weird coincidence, I was in the final interview for a position to be a transcriptionist for the President of the agency. (I wound up excusing myself from the interview process to accept a position as a B2B financial officer with Verizon ... I digress) I continued saying, the girl who had been there before me got hurt in a car accident - it seemed like a pretty crazy job. Shabana's mouth hung open as she put her arm on the table, showing her visible scar, and said "that was me." Um, yeah ...

Shabana's best good friend Lisa was at dinner last night. Oddly enough, we also sat across the table from each other.

Everyone say hi to Lisa's cool shoesSomeone at the table had mentioned that I was from Connecticut, and Lisa said get outta here! I'm from Bristol. I pretty much stopped dead in my tracks at that point. I asked her what year she graduated from high school, and wouldn't you know ... 2000, the same year as my brother! I freaked out asking her if she knew my brother, and she started laughing - she goes "does he have reddish hair ..." I said yes, and it hasn't changed since the 2nd grade. Lisa then said she remembered me as a kid, and I started losing it when we went back and forth with people we knew. I mean NUTS! We played together 21 years ago on the playground of John J. Jennings. WTF?!

A few minutes later, Shabana's friend Beth came by. She sat down, and I had met Beth a few times - but this just BLEW me away! I don't remember how it came up exactly, but I said it had been forever since we had seen each other, and she replied yeah, it's crazy how we used to do LiveVideo. I shot her a look of, "wtf" and said, you did LiveVideo? She goes yeah, I'm LizBeth. *insert COMPLETE freak out* Even though she and I had met before, I did NOT connect those dots!! She was another personality on the site, and although her stint on the channel was short - it was definitely memorable.

I immediately Twitpic-ed @FuglyCharlie when I was telling her I still kept in touch with a lot of the viewers. She was stoked to hear that Charlie was a writer for this site! Beth is currently launching her own site, and we got on to talking nerdy for about the next hour.

Our eyes looked CRAZY! haha! Beth even invited me to an interview she is hosting tomorrow. She's a BIG music fan too!! (I'll tell you more about her site when I get her okay...) I mean, how friggen cool is that?!

And on the other side of me was a fantasically awesome human being that grew up in New Britain, Connecticut (a mere minute away from Bristol) - and do I need to tell you how many friends we had in common?? Even Facebook would be jealous ...

The dinner table ...

I'm pretty sure I would have figured out a way I knew the other 7 people, but time is funny ... it goes by so fast! =)

And oh yeah, on my way home I was live streaming and @TechFrog tweeted in during the stream and asked if he could come along. I said of COURSE! Picked him up, drove around some more - then went to Mel's and talked nerdy until 3 am.

Talk about location based social media ... wow!

Incredible evening. Incredible. Incredible. Incredible!!! AHHH!!! Facebook, get out of my brainn!!!! You're making this world WAYYY too small!!!!!
