How Many is too Many?

Not my actual basement, but pretty close...#TalkNerdyToMeLover's According to Adam

Too much of anything, no matter how good, is supposedly bad. At least, that's the traditional logic. So, with that in mind, how many computers owned by a single individual is too many?

In the process of cleaning up my basement last weekend, I came across six functioning computers that I no longer was using: an iMac G3, an iBook G3, an iMac G4, a Power Mac G4 tower, a Power Mac G4 Cube and <shudder> a Dell laptop.

Add this to my MacBook Pro, MacBook and Mac Mini, and I've got 10 functioning computers in an 800-square foot, one-bedroom condo.

On some level, this is just sad, since no one really NEEDS more than one computer and most people get by fine with two. But there's something about technology that makes me develop a personal attachment to it. Most of these computers that are sitting in my basement are machines I put together using functional parts from multiple failing computers, ending up with a single working computer in the process. My iMac G4 has a hard drive from an old Power Mac, a DVD-RW drive that used to be an external drive, an AirPort card from a laptop and RAM from a machine I don't even remember. The Power Mac G4 is even more of a Franken-Mac.

Sure, I could give these machines away, but it'd be like giving away my children (note: if I had actual children, I'd probably be more willing to give them away than these computers, which is among the many reasons I should probably never procreate). So I'm looking for suggestions from you, the Talk Nerdy to Me Lover community on what I can do to make these computers a part of my life again, aside from turning them into aquariums or clocks
