#TNTML Update: We have an intern!!!
Well, legally speaking, I can't call him that. SO!! His official TNTML title is "co-conspiritor in unapologetic awesomeness."
Read the email he sent me:
Hi Jen, this is Pablo. How are you?
Ok, so I was reading your post and I am interested on it. I know that I am new to the Social Media realm but I am willing to learn. Why I am drawn to do this? Because:1) you were one of the first real-time/off-line individuals who introduced me to Web 2.0Seriously, I was inspired to get more involved into social media after the outstanding talk that you gave us at George's House (It was mind-blowing and very revolutionary experience to my reality.)2) Because thanks to your Simple but Powerful advice (Do what you LOVE), I did some changes in my life that let me to where I am now (The Art of Charm.) and3) I have realize that I need a lot more to learn about Social Media (basically, I need some training to do regarding those Web 2.0 skills ;p.)Here is a little bit of my background: I did sales for 1 year and a half, and thats where I learn how to talk and LISTEN to people over the phone. Also, my mentor show me the principals of Systematizing which I still use to this day. Then I got into Neuro Linguistic Programming (got my Practitioner and Masters in NLP) and Hypnotherapy, that is why I love when you described how you read the body language of people (online) and Social Media in general. At the beginning of this year I got the opportunity to work with George (thats where we met.) Thanks to that, I learn the basics of marketing and got a few but Awesome connections in LA. Now, as you know, I'm helping The Art of Charm to get popularity online and offline. As far as Social Media goes, this is what I have done:Lately, I'm co-managing the The Art of Charm fan page by finding what our fans like using bit.ly, reading and answering the fan posts and promoting the events. I also suggest friends and promote the contest that is going on right now.I use Facebook in the daily basis to promote the brand and to research (using some of these tips)I am getting familiar with Twitter, but like I said I am willing to learn and put the time. In the meanwhile I use some of these techniques.I use Delicious to keep my bookmarks organize and Diigo to highlight and place stickies when I am taking notes from websites.Google Docs is my favorite tool because I use it to create mini Wikis of the companies that I work with.I read Mashable, Social Media Examiner, Brain Solis, Seth Godin, Dan Zarrella, Alison Driscoll and of course TNTML ;p almost in the Daily basis. Most of my knowledge that I haveabout Social Media comes from these websites and from books like Trust Agents, Barack 2.0 and Barack inc.The things that I will need to work on would be:Learning how to manage a website.Putting my knowledge into Action, even though I have some descent experience.Getting a laptop or a smart phone, but I believe I can do most of the online work from my desktop in my room.Transportation to LA, but I can go there once in a while or do the work from my room. The application for the Internship, but I have an idea to go over it.If you decide to let me be part of your team this is some of my Ideas that we could do for exchange:The main would be to help me make The Art of Charm popular in LA (offline and online)Hook me up with some products or services from sponsors so I could barter with other people or hustle them to get bus/subway money :)Introduce me to cool connection online and offline.Oh yea, last but not least, an Unapologetically Awesome Lifetime Experience :DIn exchange I'll give you 3 of the most valuable true possessions that I have: My Knowledge, My Creativity, and My Time.
When it comes to the application for the Internship, what about if we make it a "BarteringShip" ;) since it will be easy for you and for me (I can explain over the phone or in person why it would be easier for me) My Services for Your Services. You dont have to give me anything up front, you can do the exchange as I do my job.Let me know what you think and hopefully this could work for you, because I am pretty sure that I could learn a lot from this opportunity.
First off, let me thank you all SO SO SO SO SOOOO much for the emails!!! It honestly got to be a bit overwhelming, haha! For REALS!! But dude, Pablo blew me away. I love this kid! He's just so hungry and willing to learn. He's also brought on board our dating coach, and has totally stayed on my ass anytime I said I was looking around for some sort of new sponsor.
ALSO! Pablo ends every text to me with "strength and honor." Dude, I LOVEE THAT!!!
Cannot wait to share some nerdy knowledge with you, and have some in return, and then give it back because I totally wanted it in red instead. And then you all go, well you can't do that you Indian Giver. And I go, that's not at all politically correct, I thnk you just offended me, and then ... and then ... shut up Jen. HAHAH!! =)
Welcome aboard Pablo!!!
