Novice Nerd: Find an app for that!
Saying that all nerds are techno geeks is like saying water is a vegetable because it doesn’t have cheese in it. It’s not entirely true.

I would love to up my techno geek quotient. Don’t get me wrong, I blog and tweet, (shameless self promotion), I have a blackberry, but I’m really a novice nerd. I can’t code or develop, my laptop is about 3 years old and the only gadgets I have live in my kitchen. And I cannot for the life of me get the “contact button” on my blog to go straight to my email.*
So what’s a novice nerd wanting cred to do? Find an app for that!
I’m nerdy when it comes to numbers, grammar and nutrition, but by far my nerdiest trait is my love of organization. I love organizing like Imelda Marcos loves shoes. My wardrobe is organized by category and colour. I make lists of my lists. I even keep my supplements in height order. And when things get messy, I can’t sleep 'til I feel organized again.
The plethora of Nerd organizational tools online and app ready is fairly close to my idea of heaven. Side note: Have you ever typed “notes” or “to do” into a search engine or app store? I wouldn’t recommend it. I thought my head was going to explode from all the options.
For the grand plan, I like 43things. It has sections both for long terms goals and yearly resolutions.
For the day to day stuff, I’m getting to love Teux Deux, a great to-do site that is divided into days. I keep it as my homepage. All the info for my day to day lists come from the ever-dependable Evernote, which lets me add notes from my desktop, the web, via email from my phone or on my iPod app. You can add notes, pictures, webpages, anything!
Now I just need a system to combine all 3! I’ve synced programs like Remember the Milk (to do list) with Gmail and my Google Calendar. But I can’t decide which system I prefer yet. (Like my organization, my indecisiveness is legendary).
So the nerdy searching continues, but don’t worry, I’ve scheduled that too.
