Dear World,
Notoriety and notorious have negative connotations. Unless you are referencing the dearly departed Biggie, or Hitler ... please do not say someone has gained "notoriety" in a positive light. IT DOES NOT MAKE ANY SENSE.
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, STOP!!!!
PLEASE!!!
HUGGEEEEE pet peeve of mine.
That and people who misuse their, they're, there & your, and you're.
Their - possessive
They're - a contraction for they are. Questioning when to use this? Try replacing they're with "they are" in the sentence. If it doesn't make sense, it doesn't work.
There - here, or there
Your - possessive
You're - a contraction for you and are. Questioning when to use this? Try replacing you're with "you are" in the sentence. If it doesn't make sense, it doesn't work.
